Way of the Root Farm
Way of the Root Farm is a program of Global Entrepreneurship week Minnesota
We have farm locations in Saint Paul and North Minneapolis.
We sell our harvest at the West Saint Paul Farmer Market and the Midcity Farmers Market.
Mission
Expand our youth programs by educating the youth on agriculture and boosting employment in agriculture.
Create safer, more livable communities. We provide safe, healthy programming for kids during the most dangerous times of the year.
The Way of the Root Farm is an innovative community-led agriculture venture that is transforming urban farming by combining technology, organic farming, and community involvement. By incorporating the healing powers of the outdoors with technology & entrepreneurship, we will increase food security, & improve health outcomes for North Minneapolis residents. The Way of the Root Farm is officially sponsored by Global Entrepreneurship Week Minnesota.
According to Second Harvest Heartland “1 in 6 neighbors in Minnesota experienced food insecurity in 2021. 1 in 11 kids didn't have regular access to the nutrition needed to thrive. 25% of Black households in Minnesota experienced food insecurity compared to 4% of White households in 2020.” We can no longer afford to have food being grown an 1-2 hours away, we must have urban sources of fresh foods and vegetables.
By implementing a training program and a marketplace for urban farmers it significantly benefits the community and the environment.
